Dhanbad, May 15: A witness of the land dispute case identified as Choti Yadav was stabbed to death near the court in Giridih district on Wednesday morning.
A police official said that the incident occurred around 8.30 am. Choti Yadav was going to the court to attend his case when five to six assailants attacked him at the taxi stand near the court under the Town police station and stabbed him several times.
The incident spot is also near the DDC residence.
Succumbed to injuries on way to Dhanbad
He was admitted to Navjivan Nursing Home where the doctor referred him to Dhanbad Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH). But he succumbed to his injury on the way to Dhanbad.

Sanjay Yadav, brother of the deceased, said that Choti Yadav was named as a witness in case no. 298/20 and was going to court attend date today. The assaulters, who have come out recently from jail attacked with sharp weapons and killed him.
SP forms SIT to probe
Getting information, Giridih Superintendent of Police (SP) Dipak Kumar Sharma reached the spot and began an investigation by screening CCTV footage of the area. On the spot, he set up an SIT comprising SDPO, DSP and Town police station officer-in-charge to probe the case.
Choti Yadav was a resident of the Sohidih area under the Mufasil police station. As his death report spread, residents of Sohidih blocked the main road demanding arresting of the killers.
