Daltonganj, March 22: The Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) at Pokhraha in Daltonganj held a simple but impressive awareness drive and workshop on TB symptoms, diagnosis and treatment under the aegis of the community medicine department headed by a versatile faculty Dr Nikhil Nishant.
According to Dr Nikhil Nishant, “The National Medical Commission has emphasised the adoption of families by the medical students. Here, it is meticulously monitored by the community-based medicine department and the medical college team.”
As for the awareness drive, medical students and a handful of faculty members reached Pokhraha village, where residents were made to hear what TB is and how it can be defeated and cured.
The TB awareness was done in a simple and easy word like prolonged cough, fever, night sweating, loss of appetite etc.
TB is a major killer in India, with 2 deaths every 5 minutes. It strikes the poor and the rich as well. It strikes any age group of people, from children to senior citizens.

Except for the cornea, nails, and hair, TB can affect any part or organ of the human body, from the lungs to the bones, etc.
India has a target for TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by 2025. However, it will be possible only when TB is fought and not hidden.
TB warriors have defeated TB through their sustained care of medication and whatever good food they could afford.
The principal, Dr Kamender Prasad, inaugurated the TB diagnosis and treatment workshop.
A fleet of doctors and residents to name few Dr Ravi Shanker HoD Biochemistry Dr D K Jha, HoD Medicine, Dr Atul Prakash, Dr Q H Khan etc took part in it.
There was a poster and slogan competition on this occasion, too.
