Daltonganj, April 10: Palamu administration drew a candid line. It is between the politics of Ramnavmi and Ramnavmi of politics.
The administrative line is “Ramnavmi is a religious ceremony and there is no room for politics in it.”
Jharkhand Control of Crimes Act
And if anyone shows any aberration like having a slice of politics in this festival then there is the Jharkhand Control of Crimes Act open, thundered the district election officer Palamu Shashi Ranjan.
At Lesliganj a political figure is trying to foment trouble. Here last year Ravan Dahan was done by the Sanatan Dharam Samiti.
This year another Hindu outfit is also going to have Ravan Dahan at the same place and on the same date.
It’s a political upmanship here where the Palamu administration has admonished people in general to refrain from any mental aberration as the consequences of it will be too harsh.
Shashi Ranjan openly said the administration will sue such people attempting to mix religious ceremonies with politics invoking section of the Jharkhand CCA.
Polling in Bihar districts
Reeshma Ramesan asked the Ramnavmi organisers to ensure their Raths are strong and sturdy enough to bear the vagaries of Nature where strong gust of high wind lashes at Palamu quite unpredictably.
She further wanted to know if people cross over from here to Bihar and vice versa during the Ramnavmi festival as she said there would be severe traffic regulations in place in the wake of the pollings in Bihar’s Aurangabad, Gaya and Rohtas districts.

A farmer’s harvest and passage of Ramnavami procession
A pulse crop Rahar at Pandu Kajru Kalan is increasing the ‘pulse rate’ of the administration.
A farmer has his pulse crop Rahar in his raiyyati field where now the Ramnavmi organisers want to have their passages of the procession.
The farmer is reluctant to harvest the pulse crop Rahar while the Ramnavmi organizers are determined to use the same plot for the festivity.
The situation may turn ugly here. The administration played safe as it didn’t reveal the identity of the farmer whose Rahar crop is standing on the plot of land which the Ramnavmi organisers want to be freed of the standing crop.
All the SDOs and the SDPOs have been asked to take 1 drone each. There were suggestions for barricading places to worship so that procession passage remains hurdle-free.
Administration focused on route, road chart, licence and management of crowd.
DJ and deadline of 11 pm
Administration sounded tough on two things. One use of the DJ. A demand for DJ was raised which was politely but firmly turned down as the administration said big No to DJ.
The other is all festivities of Ramnavmi to be over by 10 or 11 at night maximum.
Here the administration has set an arduous task for itself. Banning DJ sounds is good for ears but in reality, it is an inthing now in such mass festivals like Ramnavmi and Muharram.
Again Palamu has decades decades-old history of night-long ceremonies or festivities be it Ramnavmi or Muharram as its pack-up time is late the next morning.
It will be a tough task for the administration to convince the Ramnavmi celebrators to pack up before midnight as celebrations reach its height here only in the post-midnight.
However, the message of the administration is “Peace and harmony are to remain as abundant as possible.”
