Dhanbad, March 11: Over 22,000 railway employees of Dhanbad Rail Division will demonstrate on March 19 to support the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
Giving this information, additional general secretary of East Central Railway Karmchari Union (ECRKU) cum in-charge of Dhanbad Rail Division Permanent Negotiating Machinery (PNM) Md Ziauddin said that the All India Federation has called a rail strike in May across the country for the OPS.
“The union leaders will submit an official notice to the ECR Zonal authority at Hajipur on March 19. So, it has been decided to hold a dharna—a demonstration in all divisions on the same day to mount pressure on OPS demand,” he said.

Md Ziauddin said that in addition to the March 19 dharna demonstration, the Union has also decided to hold an ‘ Aakrosh Rally’ on April 2 in all divisions of ECR in protest against the rail administration’s undue pressure on the Running Staff.
ECRKU Dhanbad Rail Division media in-charge Nil Kamal Khawas said the decision to hold the demonstration was taken at an ECRKU-level meeting in which DK Pandey, Md Ziauddin, OP Sharma, Somen Dutt, and Netaji Subhash represented Dhanbad Rail Division employees.
“Under the leadership of Dhanbad Rail Division CERKU Basant Dubey, BB Singh, BK Saw, PK Sinha, Rupesh Kumar, I M Singh, Chandan Shukla, Mahendra Prasad Mahto, RN Choudhary, Ajit Kumar, Sunil Kumar Singh, Umesh Kumar Singh, and CP Pandey, preparations for the Dharna demonstration on March 19 have started,” said KIhawas.
