Dhanbad, March 15: On Friday, a team from the State health department inspected private nursing homes in Dhanbad and found massive deficiencies under the Clinical Establishment Act.
The state capital team, under Clinical Establishment Act state coordinator Rahul Kumar Singh and nominated members of the civil surgeon (CS) Dhanbad, suddenly inspected four private nursing homes: Prasad Nursing Home, Maithon, Life Line Hospital, Chirkunda, Puja Nursing Home, and AQ Hospital, and found major violations of the Act.
Significant irregularities found
Though state coordinator Rahul Kumar Singh refused to share the findings, a team member said that significant irregularities were found in the hospital’s hygienic condition, the lack of qualified nursing staff, and the lack of a medical waste disposal system.
District Leprosy Officer Dr Manju Das, Dr Rohit Gautam, DPM Neeraj Yadav, and Seema Kumari were other team members.

Clinical Establishment Act
“Though action would be taken as per Clinical Establishment Act rules, for the time being, all nursing homes were directed to employ degree-holder nursing and paramedical staff,” said a team member.
The Ranchi team faced a piquant situation at AQ Hospital when nursing and paramedical staff said the health centre was operative while the operator (owner) claimed it had been closed. However, the state capital team collected reports and returned them.
At Life Line Nursing Home, Chirkunda, the team was surprised to find that the nursing staff needed more information about the name of the doctor who operated on a patient in the hospital. A patient was found imputed, but the doctor’s diagnosis was unavailable in the hospital.
A similar situation was found at Puja Nursing Home, where the names of doctors who operated on patients were missing.
Coordinator Rahul Kumar Singh said that inspection of private nursing homes in Dhanbad would continue for the implementation of Clinical Establishment Act guidelines.
