Jamshedpur, April 9: The East Singhbhum district police seized Rs 11.16 lakhs from six bikers at a checking point in Jharkhand-Odisha border near Tiring on Tuesday.
The police seized the cash stuffed in bags and paint containers in the bikes during the checking.
Significantly, the bikers were of the opinion that the police would not search the bags and paint containers, but the dutiful police men were bent upon to search each and every possible thing where money could be hidden.
Finally, when so much cash was recovered from unsuspecting bikers, the police team was in a fix.
All six bikes seized
The bikers tried to defend their act of carrying the cash saying it was the sale proceeds of breads sold in Jamshedpur and other parts of the East Singhbhum district.

The police, however, took the plea of the bikers with a big pinch of salt and seized the cash. Having confiscated the cash in the electioneering period, the police have also seized all the six bikes involved in the clandestine transfer of money.
SSP calls for vigilance in checkpoints
The East Singhbhum senior superintendent of police, Kishore Kaushal confirmed about seizing Rs 11.16 lakhs from the six unsuspecting bikers at a checking point near Tiring gate on Jharkhand-Odisha border.
Kishore Kaushal also called upon the police team to carry out checking with alacrity like it did at the Tiring checking point.
It may be mentioned here that the East Singhbhum police had seized Rs 5.5 lakhs from a car under Kamalpur thana area in Patamda two days ago.
