Dhanbad, March 7: Sindri College Sindri today organised a cultural programme to mark International Women’s Day (March 8).

In the cultural programme jointly organized by NSS and the college’s Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC), the girl students presented an impressive display of dance, songs, speech, and other activities.
Khushi Kumari, Nandani Kumari, Anshu Kumari, Prachi, Ankita Kumara, Subrima, Tiya Kumari, Annu Kumari, Purna Bahadur, Bikram Kumar Rajak, and Sonam Kumari were among the selected students who stole the show with their outstanding performances.

Professor-in-charge of Sindri College Sindri, Dr Sunita Jaiswal, while presiding over the function, shed light on the celebration of International Women’s Day and said that this day is observed to give proper recognition and respect to women.

“This year’s International Women’s Day theme is ‘ Inspire Inclusion,’ which means all women across the globe should be given equal rights and respect,” said Dr Jaiswal.
While addressing the function, head of the Hindi department, Dr Vishu Meghnani, and Dr Manoj Kumar Tiwari were informed about the aim and importance of celebrating International Women’s Day.
“This auspicious day is observed in all countries at the global level to strengthen women’s power and to awaken them about it,” they said.
Equal rights for women
On the occasion, while proposing a vote of thanks, Dr Anil Ashutosh explained the history behind celebrating International Women’s Day and its importance. Dr Ashutosh said that the issue of women’s equal rights was raised in 1909 in Western countries. A strike was called in Russia on March 8, 1917, for voting rights. Since then, International Women’s Day has been celebrated every year.

Senior Professors Dr Sarmishta Acharya, Dr Mamta Kumari, Dr Anuradha Das, Dr Sanat Kumar, Dr Sumiran Kumar Rajak, Dr Rajesh Gupta, and SC Sharma were also in the function.
