Jamshedpur, March 28: The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) today shot off a letter to the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), New Delhi, objecting to the new baggage policy of the airline company -IndiaOne Air -and drawing attention to it, urging DGCA to intervene to make IndiaOne Air review its new policy.

Copies of the letter have been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

President of the trade body, Vijay Anand Moonka said that if a passenger travels by air to reach his destination, he himself tries to carry less baggage for an easy and comfortable journey.

IndiaOne Air reduces baggage limit by half

But sometimes the baggage weight increases as per requirement. Due to this, the earlier baggage policy available through IndiaOne Air which was free at check-in up to 15 kg and hand/cabin baggage weight limit up to 7 kg was also less.

Making changes to this policy, IndiaOne Air has almost halved it by reducing the weight limit of check-in baggage from 15 to 8 kg and the weight limit of hand/cabin baggage to 3 kg, which is not logical and inappropriate.

This will increase the unnecessary financial burden on air passengers, especially those who frequently travel by air for treatment of sick family members, to attend important corporate meetings, seminars etc, he pointed out.

“Therefore, the Director General of Civil Aviation has been requested to intervene in this new policy and put pressure on the company to review it again,” said Moonka.
