Dhanbad, June 10: A former student of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad Dr Rajbhushan Choudhary has got an entry in the Modi 3.0 cabinet.
Dr Choudhary was administered the oath for the minister of state in the Narendra Modi-led council of ministry on Sunday. He has won from the Muzaffarpur constituency of Bihar on a BJP ticket in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Dr Choudhary was a 1995-99 batch student
Dr Choudhary was a 1995-99 batch MBBS student of the then Patliputra Medical College Hospital Dhanbad (now SNMMCH) and completed his Post-Graduation (PG) course from Darbhanga Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Though senior faculty members of SNMMCH knew about Dr Rajbhushan Choudhary’s nomination as union minister of state on Sunday evening, the campus burst with joy as the institution opened in the morning today.
Senior teachers, who taught Dr Rajbhushan Choudhary, expressed happiness over a former student of the institution becoming minister of the country and congratulated each other.

Principal sends congratulatory message
SNMMCH principal- cum-superintendent Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad has sent a congratulatory message to Dr Choudhary and said that the entire campus feels proud of his selection in the union council of ministers.
“SNMMCH in its 55 years journey (PMCH Dhanbad was set up in 1969) has achieved many laurels so far, but it ( nomination of a former student in the union council of ministry )is a golden gift which has made the institution, district and the state proud,” said Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad.
SNMMCH Alumni Association president Prof (Dr) Sunil Kumar Verma ( HoD biochemistry), while congratulating Dr Rajbhushan Choudhary, said that the Association would felicitate him as soon as possible after taking time from him. Dr Verma will visit Delhi soon to take the minister’s time.
“He was an extraordinary MBBS student. He was always seen as humble before teachers and kept cordial behaviour with his colleagues in class,” he said.
Former principal and superintendent of PMCH Dr Kameshwar Biswas, former principal Dr Shailendra Kumar, former principal and superintendent Dr Arun Kumar Choudhary (at present principal of Dumka Medical College), former retired professor and HoD of physiology Dr RN Mishra who taught him in class have also congratulated Dr Rajbhushan Choudhary.
Dr Ravibhushan, Dr Vinit Tigga and other faculty members have also congratulated him.
