Dhanbad, May 25: Principal cum Superintendent of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad on Monday flagged off a ‘Jagrukta Rath’ of the Central Bureau of Communications (CBC) to protect from the heat wave and cleanness campaign.
A day campaign (Jagrukta Rath) has been launched by the regional bureau of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the government of India which will make rounds of different regions of the district and make people aware of how to protect from heat waves and maintain cleanness in the area.
SNMMCH principal cum superintendent Dr Prasad while flagging off the Jagrukta Rath pointed out that heat wave is a common problem in summer which causes diarrhoea, dysentery and other diseases. “For protection from it, we should take ORS. If homemade remedies fail to control, we must go to a hospital,” he added.

“Cleanliness is also a major part of life. We must give special attention to cleanness of water, land and environment of the surrounding area for a healthy life,” said principal Dr Prasad.
CBC regional officer Onkarnath Pandey, on the occasion, said that Jagrukta Rath of the department would tour for five days in different parts of the Dhanbad district to spread messages about heat waves and cleanness drive. On the occasion, CBC officers and staff took a pledge to maintain cleanliness in the region.
The official said on the first day Jagrukta Rath campaigned in Steel Gate, Saraidhela Bhelatand, Karmik Nagar, Memko More, Dhayya, IIT Indian School of Mines, Police Line area to make people aware.
