What is CRT-D implantation?
The most common reason for CRT-D implantation is congestive heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy with very low pumping function. In this problem, the ultimate treatment is heart transplantation but CRT-D implantation has saved many lives by increasing the pumping function of the heart and improving the quality of life.
Dr Ahmed said that CRT-D implant is a daycare procedure done in local anaesthesia which requires expertise and experience with well-trained nursing staff and paramedics team.
The normal symptoms for CRT-D implantation are – inability to walk to height, fatigue, sweating and breathlessness, Dr. Ahmed said.
CRT D implantation procedure is completely safe and it is performed under an experienced and expert team.
“Breathing difficulties with consistent fatigue persisting for more than two weeks and hampering normal quality of life should be investigated thoroughly,” added Dr Ahmed.
