Jamshedpur, Feb 10: The newly-posted SDPO Dilip Khalkho on Saturday conducted a flag march against the peddling of brown sugar in Adityapur, giving a message to the indulged in the illicit business.

Taking the sale of the narcotic drugs seriously, the SDPO has warned the drug peddlers either to leave the area or stop the sale of the drugs.

Khalkho has declared that from now onwards the drug peddlers will remain on the radar of the police and if anyone is caught in the illegal business, his or her property will be seized.

The flag march was carried out at Adityapur Muslim Bustee which has been turned into a hub for peddling of brown sugar.

Though the police have earlier arrested several peddlers, including notorious Dolly Perveen for running the racket of brown sugar peddling, the illicit trade continues to flourish in the Adityapur Muslim Bustee like a blot in the densely-populated Adityapur.

Drug addicts from the adjoining steel city and other parts of the region turn up at the infamous Adityapur Muslim Bustee to avail the drugs despite the fact that a section of the drug peddlers have spread their network at several localities well inside Jamshedpur.

A local resident on condition of anonymity observed that the police tend to take special steps like the one taken today intermittently, especially when a new officer is posted in the Seraikela sub-division, leading the drug peddlers to go underground but a few days later the situation returns to square one leading the drug-peddlers to resume their business with impunity.
