Ranchi, May 2: ODM Sapphire Global School, DAV Public School Gandhi Nagar, and Cluny Convent School secured their places in the semifinals of the 12th Ranchi Inter-School Badminton Championship, which began on Thursday evening.

In the boys’ under-14 school team championship, ODM Sapphire Global School defeated GD Goenka Public School in the first quarterfinal match. In another match, DAV Public School Gandhi Nagar beat St. Thomas School-A, while Cluny Convent School cruised past St. Thomas School-B to become the third semifinalist in the category.

In the boys’ under-17 event, DAV Gandhi Nagar and St. Thomas School advanced to the semifinals after convincing victories in their respective matches.

Meanwhile, in the boys’ under-19 category, Cluny Convent School, Delhi Public School (DPS), Sarla Birla Public School, and Surendranath Centenary School booked their spots in the semifinal stage.

Ranchi District Badminton Association General (RDBA) Secretary N.K. Dey informed that over 250 boys and girls are participating across three age categories: under-14, under-17, and under-19.
“Both singles and team championship events are being held in this tournament. Since Ranchi players have traditionally been a dominant force in state-level badminton, we can expect some thrilling contests ahead,” Dey added.
