Dhanbad, June 14: The 14th Jharkhand State Shooting Championship (rifle and pistol events and small-bore events) will be held at Kumar Surendra Singh Shooting Range Deoghar from July 7 to July 10.

Giving this information, Jharkhand State Rifle Association joint secretary cum national shooter Rajendra Singh Virdi said that all events would be conducted according to the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) book 2024.

Record participation is likely to be registered

The joint secretary said that record participation is likely to be registered in the Deoghar championship as the inter-school championship is simultaneously held with the senior category. More national and international shooters of Jharkhand especially from Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad will participate in large numbers. “That is why we have made the day’s championship this time. Generally, it was completed in three days,” said Rajendra Singh Virdi.

Host Ranchi became the overall champion last year (2023) leaving Jamshedpur and Dhanbad in second and third position. Joint Secretary Virdi said a district is declared the overall champion on the basis number of medals won by individual shooters.

National Rifle Association of India

“The National Rifle Association of India has directed all state units to complete their state championship before August. So, we have decided to hold the state championship in the first week of July,” said Virdi.

In the state championship, the main competition for medals is seen between shooters of three districts Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad who sweep maximum titles.

International shooter Shish Aditya (air rifle) will be the centre of attraction in the five–day championship.  Besides it, Ranchi’s Chain Kumar Gupta, Arun Mukhiya, Akash Kumar Ravidas and Ranjan Kumar who stole the show in last year’s championship are likely to dominate this year too.

National shooters Rajendra Singh Virdi, Ranveer Singh, Vikash Murmu, Avinash Singh Archi Komal, Archi Gupta, Vipul Kumar and Priyanshu of Dhanbad will be seen in action.
