Jharkhand State Finance Commission reviews welfare measures in Sabar villages

Jamshedpur, Jan 31: Chairman of the Jharkhand Fifth State Finance Commission, Amarendra Pratap Singh, visited Sabar village under Lailam Panchayat in the Bodam block of East Singhbhum as part of his district tour.

During the visit, Singh toured Hathi Tola and Dangar Tola and interacted with families belonging to the Sabar primitive tribal community to assess the ground-level implementation of welfare initiatives.

Review of welfare initiatives

The Commission Chairman reviewed ongoing efforts aimed at improving the social, economic, educational and health conditions of Sabar families. He praised the district administration’s initiative to connect villagers with sustainable livelihood opportunities, especially honey production, to promote self-reliance.

Singh also inspected livestock sheds and locally made products, gaining insights into both traditional and emerging income-generating activities being adopted by the community.

Villagers raise documentation issues

During discussions with villagers, Singh collected first-hand information on personal and community-level issues, including difficulties in accessing government schemes. Residents highlighted problems caused by the lack of essential documents such as Aadhaar cards, ration cards, pensions, disability certificates, caste certificates and land ownership titles.
