Ranchi, Oct 23: A 21-year-old student from IIT Delhi, Kumar Yash, was found dead in his hostel room, with authorities suspecting suicide. The incident occurred late Tuesday night around 11 PM in Room D57 of the Aravali Hostel, where Yash was pursuing his M.Sc. in his second year.
According to police reports, the room was locked from the inside, prompting friends and staff to break the window to gain entry. Upon entering, they discovered Yash hanging from the ceiling, using two towels. He was immediately transported to Safdarjung Hospital by the IIT ambulance but was sadly declared dead upon arrival.

Kumar Yash, hailing from Deoghar district in Jharkhand, had a known medical history of psychiatric treatment. Earlier that day, he had visited the IIT hospital and had an appointment scheduled with a psychiatrist for October 29. Notably, no suicide note was found at the scene.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. Initial findings suggest no foul play, and statements have been recorded from friends.
A mobile crime team inspected the crime scene, and Yash’s body has been preserved in the mortuary for further examination. His family has been informed of the tragic incident.
