Jamshedpur, May 27: Cyclone Remal made landfall late on Sunday night, resulting in gusty winds and light rain at some places in southern and central Jharkhand.
The storm crossed the coastal regions of Bangladesh’s Mongla port and the adjoining Sagar Islands in neighbouring West Bengal state with wind speed measuring up to 135 kmph (about 84 mph).
The impact of the severe cyclonic storm was felt in several places across Jharkhand.
Pleasant weather, clouds and winds blowing at a speed of 30- 40 kmph was reported from several places across Jharkhand today.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre predicted thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 40-50 kmph) at isolated places over north-eastern, central and southern parts of the state today.
Tomorrow too thunderstorm and lightning is likely at isolated places over eastern and adjoining central parts of the state.
Monsoon Update
Southwest monsoon further advanced into some more parts of Southwest Bay of Bengal, Central Bay of Bengal and Northeast Bay of Bengal.
IMD officials said that monsoon is expected to hit the Kerala coast by June 1.
