Jamshedpur, April 22: Dry weather is expected to prevail in most parts of Jharkhand today, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Statistics of the past 24 hours revealed that Baharagora in East Singhbhum (Kolhan) was the hottest place in the state with the day temperature climbing to as high as 46 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal.
Seraikela also in Kolhan division recorded day’s temperature of 44 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours.
Pakur and Godda recorded over 43 degrees Celsius while Jamtara and Daltonganj recorded over 42 degrees Celsius.
Jamshedpur recorded 44.2 degrees Celsius while Ranchi was comparatively cool at 39 degrees Celsius.

A north-south trough was running from cyclonic circulation over northeast Bangladesh to the north Bay of Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
North-westerly to westerly surface wind prevails over Jharkhand.
No significant change in maximum temperature is likely during the next 24 hours; thereafter a fall by 2-3°C during the next two days is expected.
Thereafter again rise by 2-3°C is expected during the subsequent two days.
Weathermen also expressed the possibility of light rain at isolated places over southern parts of the state.
Light rain and thunderstorm activity are likely to take place at isolated places over south and adjoining central parts of the state tomorrow, Tuesday.
