Jamshedpur, May 31: The sudden shift in weather conditions brought respite in isolated parts of Jharkhand today.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light rain in north-eastern, central and southern Jharkhand today while the north-western parts comprising Palamau, Garhwa and Chatra would continue to reel under heat wave condition.

Jamshedpur and several other areas in southern, central and north-western Jharkhand today woke up to pleasant weather with a drop in day temperature.

According to the forecast, light rain with thunderstorms is predicted at isolated places over north-eastern and southern parts of the state tomorrow, Saturday.

Light rain with thunderstorms is also likely at a few places over north-eastern and southern parts of the state on Sunday.

Monsoon Update

Southwest monsoon has set in over Kerala and advanced into most parts of the northeast India including entire Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and most parts of Tripura, Meghalaya and Assam on Thursday (May 30), two days in advance.

The Northern Limit of monsoon was passing through Amini, Kannur, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Agartala and  Dhubri.

Conditions are favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of the central Arabian Sea, the remaining parts of the southeast Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep area and Kerala, some parts of Karnataka as well as some more parts of south Tamil Nadu, some parts of Gulf of Manner, and some more parts of southwest and central Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Northeast Bay of Bengal and Assam and Meghalaya and some parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next 2- 3 days.

Synoptic Features

A trough runs from cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh to west Bangladesh across southeast Uttar Pradesh, south Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
