PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Feb 13:  Several places across Jharkhand are expected to experience slight thunder  showers and lightning today, said a nowcast (short-term forecast ) issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre this morning.

The places include Chatra, Garhwa, Latehar and  Palamu.

Some parts of Giridih, Koderma, Lohardaga Ramgarh and Ranchi would also experience light thunder showers and lightning.

Apart from showers, isolated hail is also expected over Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra and Latehar districts of the state.

The forecast also did not rule out the possibility of hail at Gumla, Lohardaga, Ranchi, Hazaribag and Koderma.

The adverse weather has resulted in a rise in minimum temperature in most parts of the state today.

Satellite pictures suggested a cyclonic circulation over Marathwada and the neighbourhood at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.

Another cyclonic circulation lies over west Vidarbha at 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Light rain occurred at isolated places over the state during the past 24 hours.

The highest amount of rainfall (5.2 mm) was recorded at Jaldeg in Simdega.

The highest maximum temperature of  29.6°C was recorded at Chaibasa while the lowest minimum temperature of 9.7°C was recorded at Godda.
