Jharkhand Weather: Monsoon withdrawal advances, rain likely over next five days

Jamshedpur, October 6: The withdrawal of the southwest monsoon continued over Jharkhand on Tuesday, even as a combination of weather systems is likely to keep skies generally cloudy and trigger light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places across the state over the next five days.

The line of monsoon withdrawal continued to pass through 27.5°N/86.5°E, Supaul, Ranchi, Raipur, Brahmapuri, Parbhani, Baramati and Harnai before extending to 17.5°N/71.8°E.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, an upper-air cyclonic circulation over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas has shifted to southeast Uttar Pradesh and its neighbourhood and extends up to 0.9 km above mean sea level.

A trough extending from Haryana to the North Bay of Bengal now runs from the cyclonic circulation over southeast Uttar Pradesh across Jharkhand, south Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha. It extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Another trough extending from north Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Madhya Maharashtra across Bihar, Jharkhand, Vidarbha and Marathwada at 5.8 km above mean sea level continues to persist.

An upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas also persists at 3.1 km above mean sea level.

Rain, Thundershowers Likely on October 6-7

The weather office has forecast generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places in Jharkhand on October 6 and 7.

There is likely to be no significant change in maximum temperatures during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, maximum temperatures are expected to fall by 2-3°C over the subsequent three days.

Minimum temperatures, however, are likely to remain largely unchanged during the next five days.

Jharkhand Weather Forecast: October 8-10

On October 8, generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places across the state.

On October 9, partly cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at a few places over southern, central and northeastern parts of Jharkhand. Isolated showers may occur over northwestern Jharkhand.

On October 10, partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places over northeastern and southeastern parts of the state.

The weather systems are expected to keep conditions unsettled in parts of Jharkhand even as the southwest monsoon withdrawal progresses.
