Jamshedpur, March 20:  Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is likely to occur at many places over the state today, said a weather bulletin issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

A trough which was running from Jharkhand to south Assam at 0.9 km above the mean sea level triggered rain at several places since last evening.

Several places including Jamshedpur experienced overnight rain.

The IMD forecast further indicated that tomorrow, March 21 light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is very likely to occur at isolated places over north-eastern, south-eastern and adjoining central parts of the state.

An alert of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 40-50 kmph) over western, southern and central parts of the state was issued for today.

Thunderstorm and lightning activity  is also likely at isolated places over north-eastern, south-eastern and adjoining central parts of the state tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the rainfall activity during the past 24 hours has brought down the maximum temperature at many places across the state.

The day temperature dropped to as low as 26 degrees Celsius at Ranchi while the day temperature hovered around 29 degrees Celsius at Daltonganj.

In Bokaro the day reading dropped to around 28 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature dropped below 30 degrees Celsius at Jamshedpur and several other places.
