Jamshedpur, March 1:  After a prolonged stay, winter departed from Jharkhand.

It’s time to welcome spring.

Most parts of Jharkhand on Friday witnessed a rise in minimum temperatures, with Ranchi almost touching 14°C and Jamshedpur crossing the 16°C mark.

According to statistics, the minimum reading was around 16.4°C in the steel city on Friday, two notches above normal.

In Ranchi, the minimum soared to as high as 14°C, two notches above normal.

Similarly, the minimum temperature in Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district, Daltonganj, Bokaro and Dhanbad witnessed a rising trend.

In Met parlance winter exits when most places record minimum temperature above 13 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature in almost all districts has risen beyond 13 degrees Celsius.

Met data also suggested an increase in the maximum temperatures in most parts of the state, with places like Jamshedpur and Daltonganj scoring around 31°C.

Weathermen attributed the rise in both minimum and maximum readings to changing wind patterns.

“This is the transition phase and winter is at its fag end. Both maximum and minimum temperatures will continue to rise in the coming days,” said a senior official at Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

However, the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, in its long-range forecast, has predicted partly cloudy skies with the development of thunderclouds on Sunday, March 3.
