Dhanbad, Nov 8: Thousands of non-gazetted employees of the state today took out a massive rally and sat on dharna in their respective district headquarters in support of the 11-point charter of demands.
In Dhanbad, the employees under the banner of Jharkhand State Non-Gazetted Employees’ Federation as a pre-announced programme took out a rally from Golf Ground. Chanting different slogans in support of their demands they reached Randhir Verma Chowk near the collectorate and sat on dharna which turned into a meeting.
Federation’s general secretary and Sangharsh Samiti president Sanjut Sahay, who was leading the agitation, said that employees would continue to stir till the state government implements all 11 long pending demands.
“All 1.70 lakh employees would now agitate before the Chief Minister’s house in Ranchi on December 4 if the state government does not fulfill our demands,” said Sanjut Sahay. He further added that the government must read the writing on the wall as employees are not going to rest.
Former Nirsa MLA of the Marxists Coordination Committee (MCC) Arup Chatterjee had also joined in the procession and dharna in support of non-gazetted employees’ demands. He addressed the dharna sabha and urged the government to accept the demands as all are genuine.
In Ranchi, state contractual ANM-GNM staged a dharna at the Civil Surgeon’s office in Sadar Hospital premises and demanded immediate implementation of demands including regularization of job.
State ANM-GNM presidents Meera Kumari and Veena Kumari alleged that they have been doing the job of regular employees for the last 15 years notwithstanding this the government has not regularized their service so far.
Ashok Kumar Singh ‘Nayan’ the state general secretary of Jharkhand State Non-Gazetted Employees Federation claimed the agitation was successful in all 24 districts of the state today and said that employees are geared up for a stir at Ranchi before the Chief Minister’s house on December 4.
