Dhanbad, May 21: Senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh alleged that corruption committed by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the Congress Party destroyed the developed Jharkhand dream of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Rajnath Singh, who was addressing a poll rally at Bokaro Sector-2 ground on Tuesday afternoon in support of the Party’s Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat candidate Dhulu Mahto, said that Bokaro and Dhanbad are famous in the country as well as abroad for steel and coal. Jharkhand is the richest state in the mineral property.

“That is why former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee formed a separate Jharkhand state for development of tribal and region. But corruption of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha government shattered his dream,” said Rajnath Singh.

No corruption charges against BJP CMs

The defence minister said BJP’s Babulal Marandi, Arjun Munda and Raghubar Das became chief ministers of the state but no corruption charge was levelled against any person.

But under the JMM rule, a chief minister is in jail for corruption and a stack of notes is found in the house of the minister’s PS. This cannot be done without support from the chief minister, he alleged.

Rajnath Singh said that he was also chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. “But missing of Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren for 24 hours surprised him the most, he added.

The defence minister said that opposition parties allege misuse of ED and CBI agencies in the name of action against corruption. “But why did the Congress Party not use these agencies for controlling corruption in 52 years? He asked.

“Rather, the Congress always sheltered corruption,” he added.

“The Congress seized only Rs 23 lakh but after 2014 the ED and CBI seized Rs 23 thousand crores and attached property of Rs 23 lakh crores in action against corruption,” Singh said.

PSU banks register huge profit

He said that all nationalised banks became loss-making institutions under the Congress rule, but in the last 10 years, they have registered a profit of RS 3 lakh crores,” Singh pointed out.

He said under Narendra Modi prestige of India abroad has increased and all countries take India’s voice seriously. He also recounted how Modi rescued 22000 Indian students trapped in war-ravaged Ukraine in 4.30 hours.
