Ranchi, January 21: The ruling JMM has attacked the Centre over deployment of more than 500 CRPF jawans when the ED interrogated Chief Minister Hemant Soren in the Ranchi land scam on Saturday.

Making serious allegations, JMM spokesman Supriyo Bhattacharya said that as part of a well-planned strategy, a conspiracy was hatched by the Centre to impose President’s rule in the state.

Law and order problems

“If the JMM workers had not exercised restraint, law and order problems could have arisen. After this, a situation of President’s rule would have been created by citing law and order in the state,” he alleged.

Addressing a press conference, Bhattacharya demanded an investigation into the role of CRPF IG from the state government, otherwise it has also warned of agitation. JMM leader Vinod Pandey was also present at the press meet.

Jharkhand govt deployed 2000 cops

He said that on the request of ED, the state government, keeping law and order in mind, deployed about 2000 policemen and senior officers for the security of the ED officials, security of their office, security of their families and to maintain law and order. Magistrates were deputed. “During this time, the general public and JMM workers were protesting against the biased action of the investigating agencies of the Centre. In view of this, the district administration again took immediate steps and imposed Section 144 at a distance of 500 meters from the CM House. But in the meantime, suddenly an attempt was made to force hundreds of CRPF personnel into the bus and enter the Chief Minister’s residence without any permission or information,” he said.

CRPF deployment without permission

The JMM leaders said that CRPF soldiers were deployed without permission or information.

“An attempt was made to enter the CM House without permission or information. Not only this, CRPF jawans also tried to entangle with JMM workers, so as to spoil the atmosphere,” they alleged.

Deploying CRPF is Illegal

The JMM leaders said that the entry of such a large number of CRPF forces into the prohibited area without the permission of the district administration and without giving information at such a sensitive time and place of law and order is a provocative and illegal act. If JMM workers had not shown restraint, a violent situation could have arisen, they maintained.

CRPF IG

The JMM leaders said that according to the information received, this act of CRPF was part of a well-planned conspiracy, in which CRPF IG was also included.

They wanted that there should be a fight between the CRPF and the protesting workers and if the protestors get angry and attack the CRPF, then the state government could be accused of failure of the constitutional system and the role of imposing President’s rule could be prepared.

They pointed out that the CRPF can never do any kind of law-and-order work without the request or permission of the district administration. It is clear from this that CRPF took this action conspiratorially at the behest of the Central Government, which is an attempt to destabilize the state government and a cowardly attack on the federal structure, they alleged.

The JMM has demanded from the state government to expose the entire conspiracy by taking strict legal action against the CRPF IG, Commandant and other senior officials for this unconstitutional act and conducting a high-level investigation, otherwise JMM will be forced to protest.
