Ranchi, May 27: The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) today conducted a long-due examination to recruit 56 food safety officers in the State.
A total of 3534 candidates took the examination.
Notably, the examination was conducted under the directive of the Jharkhand High Court, after it registered a PIL Suo motu regarding adulterated food items, including milk.
Thereafter, the JPSC issued an advertisement in the year 2023 and set the ball rolling for the appointment of food safety officers.
Notably, Jharkhand has been reeling under the crisis of food safety officers for quite a long time.
Also, the vacation bench of the Jharkhand High Court, a couple of days back, rejected the petition of an aspirant seeking age relaxation.
The court said that the JPSC examination is being conducted under the supervision of the High Court and the court will not interfere in it.
