Ranchi, September 4: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has intensified its probe into alleged irregularities and paper leaks in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), with investigators questioning the commission’s Secretary, Sudhir Gupta, and scrutinising examination-related records.
A special CID investigation team visited the JSSC headquarters in Namkum on Friday as part of the ongoing investigation. The team questioned Gupta about the examination process, official records and issues linked to the alleged irregularities.
CID scrutinises JSSC records, OMR sheets
During the visit, investigators examined documents kept in the commission’s record room and other sections dealing with examination-related work.
According to sources, the team also recovered OMR sheets and other examination-related documents, which were seized for further examination. The records are expected to be examined alongside other evidence to establish whether there were lapses in the examination process and, if so, at what stage they occurred.
The investigation is focused on tracing the sequence of events and identifying the people who may have been involved in the alleged irregularities.
Secretary’s residence also searched
Before reaching the JSSC office, the CID team reportedly searched the residence of Secretary Sudhir Gupta on Harihar Singh Road in Morabadi.
Investigators are understood to have examined documents and electronic devices found at the residence. However, no detailed official information has so far been released about the search, including the specific items allegedly recovered from the premises.
After the search, the team proceeded to the JSSC headquarters and questioned the Secretary.
Digital evidence also under scanner
The CID is now reportedly cross-checking examination records with digital evidence as part of efforts to establish how the alleged irregularities occurred.
Investigators are examining the available records and electronic material to determine whether there was any manipulation, leakage of examination-related information or other procedural violations.
The latest action comes amid heightened scrutiny of JSSC examinations over allegations of irregularities and paper leaks. The CID probe is expected to examine the role of individuals at different levels and establish how the alleged lapses took place.
