Khunti, January 18: Legal Services-cum-Empowerment Camps were successfully organised across all blocks of Khunti district on Sunday under the directions of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA). The camps were conducted jointly by the District Legal Services Authority (DALSA), Khunti, and the district administration to promote legal awareness and ensure doorstep delivery of government welfare schemes.

Torpa Camp Inaugurated by District Judge and Deputy Commissioner

The camp at the Torpa block office premises was formally inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-DALSA Chairman Rasikesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner R. Ronita, and Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel Rajiv Kamal by lighting the lamp. Block Development Officer Naveen Chandra Jha welcomed the dignitaries.

Welfare Schemes Delivered on the Spot

Beneficiaries received immediate benefits under multiple government schemes. House-warming ceremonies were facilitated for beneficiaries of Abua Awas Yojana, while blankets, ration cards, job cards, and pension sanction letters were distributed.

To support livelihoods, beneficiaries were provided with cows, goats, chickens, pigs, and solar pump sets. Financial assistance and certificates were also distributed under Chief Minister’s Kanyadan Yojana, Matru Vandana Yojana, scholarship schemes, and the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOC) Welfare Scheme.

Certificates and Legal Services Provided

On-the-spot services included issuance of caste, income, domicile, birth and death certificates, along with disaster relief certificates. Officials and legal aid volunteers guided villagers on accessing various welfare and legal services.

Focus on Legal Awareness and Women Empowerment

Addressing the gathering, the District Judge and Deputy Commissioner said legal empowerment is not limited to awareness but also involves connecting citizens with their lawful entitlements. Special emphasis was laid on women empowerment through the Phoolo Jhano Yojana and livelihood support through JSLPS revolving funds.

Wide Participation Ensures Success

Additional Collector Parmeshwar Munda, Senior Advocate Kavita Kumari, Circle Officer Pooja Binaha, block and district-level officials, paralegal volunteers, and a large number of villagers were present. Officials said the successful organisation of the camps across all blocks was made possible through coordinated efforts of the judiciary, district administration, and DALSA volunteers.
