ANUPAM KUMAR
There are no permanent assistant professors in most of the departments and a few numbers of guest faculty teachers are teaching and their (guest faculty teacher) knowledge is below average.
The guest faculty teachers lack the basic conceptual clarity of their subject, the guest faculty teachers lack understanding of their subject. The quality of education is very low and the students have to study the whole syllabus on their own or with little teacher support.
Students come to study in the constituent and affiliated colleges of Kolhan University by far-off places, in fact, 30km to 50km by bicycle, motorcycle and bus and classes are of very low duration which is 1/2 hour to 1 hour.
KU provides a bachelor’s degree in 4 years
The university always provides a bachelor’s degree in four years and post graduate degree in three years.
This university is providing student-only degrees, which is of no use in future. The student-teacher ratio is very high almost 500 to 700 students per teacher and sometimes of 1000.
Condition of library is not good
The condition of the library is not good, there are very few standard books or no books by foreign authors and there are also inadequate numbers of books according to the syllabus provided by the university for different subjects. There is no reading room for students and there are no separate rooms for some departments.

The condition of one of the constituent colleges of Kolhan University i.e. JLN College, Chakradharpur, is very poor, and the infrastructure facilities are very low. The entrance gate of JLN College will fall anytime.
There are very few rooms for different departments.
In other states the quality of education provided by permanent assistant professors, associate professors and professors is good but in Jharkhand, they lack in quality, their basic concepts are not clear and they have very little command the understanding of their subject and they have not any understanding of recent (current) developments of their subjects.
Students come from far-off places to study at different universities in Jharkhand. But only one or two classes occur for 1 or 2 hours, which is very less as per as syllabus requirement. Most students are from rural backgrounds, and they have to pay bus fares up to 100 to 150 rupees for travelling and to attend classes (So, if we look it will be practically 100 to 150 rupees per class).
Sessions of Bachelor’s and Post Graduate in different universities of Jharkhand are never in time. Students have to protest for exams to occur at the right time. Most students have to depend upon tuition (which is run by respective teachers of their universities or colleges) for their studies.
The main reason for the failure is that there are inadequate numbers of assistant professors, associate professors and professors in different constituent and affiliated colleges of different universities of Jharkhand, the infrastructure of these colleges is substandard and subpar.
No college under NIRF ranking
There is no single college or state university in the current 2024 NIRF ranking in the top 100. This shows the real character of the state universities and colleges.
The above situation described by me is the most common condition of different colleges and universities in Jharkhand.
So, we are facing a very difficult situation and our future will be ruined.
