New Delhi, Nov 22: Businessman Amit Katyal, the promoter of AK Infosystems, was sent into judicial custody remand until December 5 by the Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi on Wednesday in the land-for-job scam case.

The Enforcement Directorate recently arrested him in connection with an alleged land-for-jobs scam.

Katyal is reported to have close ties with former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Special Judge Gitanjali Goel approved the Enforcement Directorate’s request for the judicial custody of Katyal. Following the conclusion of the earlier remand period sanctioned by the court, Amit Katyal was presented in court by the Enforcement Directorate.

The Delhi High Court recently declined to dismiss Enforcement Directorate (ED) proceedings against Amit Katyal, who is alleged to have been involved in transactions with the family members of former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.

The land-for-job scam relates to the time when Lalu Yadav served as the railway minister during the initial term of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government at the Central level.

During the period from 2004 to 2009, the accusation is that numerous individuals were appointed to Group “D” positions across different zones of the Indian Railways. In return, these individuals allegedly transferred their land to the family members of the then railway minister Lalu Yadav and A K Infosystems Private Limited.
