Jamshedpur, Nov 30: Several places in northern Jharkhand are expected to experience light rain today, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Cloud cover is also expected in a few places.
The trough in westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level was today running roughly along Long. 80°E to the north of Lat. 23°N.
Low-pressure area
The low-pressure area over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards and lay as a well-marked low-pressure area over
Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over southeast Bay of Bengal today.
Thereafter, it is likely to move northwestwards and intensify gradually into a cyclonic storm over the southwest and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal around December 2.
Light rain observed
Very light rain was observed at isolated places over the state during the past 24 hours.
The highest rainfall recorded was 0.5 mm at Daltonganj in Palamau.
The highest maximum temperature of 30.8°C was recorded at Chaibasa while the lowest minimum temperature of 12.7°C was recorded at Garhwa.
