New Delhi, March 15: The Election Commission of India is scheduled to release the timetable for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections at 3 pm tomorrow. The announcement will be streamed live on the ECI’s social media platforms.
Immediately upon the announcement, the Model Code of Conduct takes effect, prohibiting the ruling government from making any new policy decisions.
The dates of the assembly elections in Odisha, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh will also be announced by the ECI tomorrow.

The current Lok Sabha’s tenure expires on June 16, and a new House must be established prior to that date. The last Lok Sabha elections took place in seven phases starting on April 11 and its dates were declared on March 10. On May 23, the results were announced.
The poll dates will be announced by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, who will be accompanied by the recently elected Election Commissioners, Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Gyanesh Kumar.
Yesterday, a panel led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi appointed retired IAS officers Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Gyanesh Kumar as the new election commissioners. Both of them assumed their charge toady.
