Mumbai, April 9: Ahead of the next elections, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra, whose allies are also INDIA alliance members, has come to an agreement on seat-sharing for the state’s 48 Lok Sabha seats.
21 seats have been awarded to the Shiv Sena side (UBT), which is led by former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Sharad Pawar, has got 10 seats, leaving the Congress with 17 seats.
Shiv Sena (UBT) retains Sangli seat
The disputed Sangli seat has been retained by the Shiv Sena (UBT). After Uddhav Thackeray went to Sangli and declared Chandrahar Patil’s candidacy, the Congress and Sena were at odds.
The Congress swiftly objected to the ruling, contending that Sangli had long been a stronghold for the party, with two MLAs representing the constituency, compared to none for the Sena. The party then declared Vishal Patil, the grandson of former chief minister Vasantdada Patil, as their nominee.
On the other hand, the Sena argued that it was seeking to obtain at least the Sangli seat in exchange for the Kolhapur and Ramtek Lok Sabha seats, which it already relinquished.

Following weeks of negotiation and contention, the Thackeray faction has successfully secured the Sangli seat and has chosen to nominate Chandrahar Patil, a wrestler affiliated with the Shiv Sena (UBT), as their candidate.
Shiv Sena (UBT) gets four out of Mumbai’s six seats
The Mumbai North seat, which the Shiv Sena has historically held, was awarded to the Congress in exchange. An NCP candidate is going to run for the Bhiwandi seat.
Thackeray’s Shiv Sena will compete in four out of Mumbai’s six seats, including North West, South Central, South, and South East. The remaining two seats, North and North Central, will be contested by the Congress.
