PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, May 18: A major fire broke out late on Sunday night in Sankosai under the Ulidih police station area in Mango, Jamshedpur, destroying two parked buses and triggering panic among local residents.

According to eyewitnesses, smoke was first noticed coming out of one of the buses parked along Road No. 1. Within minutes, the fire intensified and spread to the adjacent vehicle, engulfing both buses in flames.

Preliminary reports indicate that a short circuit may have caused the fire, though officials are yet to confirm the exact reason behind the incident.

Residents Alert Emergency Services

The massive flames and thick smoke alarmed residents in the neighbourhood, many of whom rushed out of their homes and informed emergency services.

Firefighters reached the spot soon after receiving the alert and launched a firefighting operation to contain the blaze. Despite their efforts, both buses were completely gutted and reduced to charred remains.

Traffic Disrupted, Probe Underway

The incident also led to a temporary traffic disruption in the area as police and fire personnel carried out emergency response measures.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported. However, the fire is believed to have caused property damage worth several lakhs.

Ulidih police have initiated an investigation into the incident to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
