Ranchi, Feb 21: Newly appointed Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee in-charge K. Raju assured party workers that he had come to serve, not to rule. “My door is open for every worker. Anyone can meet me and ask questions—I am accountable to you,” he declared at a felicitation ceremony held at the State Congress Headquarters, Congress Bhawan, Ranchi.

The event, chaired by State Congress President Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, was attended by Congress ministers, MPs, MLAs, state and district officials, and thousands of party leaders and workers, who welcomed him with garlands.

Outlining his vision for strengthening the party, Raju shared five key suggestions, emphasizing the importance of empowering grassroots workers and ensuring their voices influence party decisions. He asserted that only the Congress Party could safeguard the Constitution and protect the rights of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs, and minorities. Announcing the Jai Samvidhaan Campaign, he stated that over the next year, efforts would focus on delivering good governance in Jharkhand and ensuring government schemes reach the ground level. Additionally, the party would work under the Leadership Development Mission to promote emerging leaders from Jharkhand.

Welcoming Raju, State Congress President Keshav Mahto Kamlesh expressed confidence that his leadership would bring new energy and momentum to both the party and the government. “His vast administrative experience, along with his long-standing service in the Congress Party, will be instrumental in strengthening our organization and fulfilling the promises made to the public during elections,” he said.

Congress Legislature Party leader Pradeep Yadav highlighted the issue of OBC reservations, pointing out that eight districts in Jharkhand currently have none. Citing Rahul Gandhi’s principle—”the greater the participation, the greater the share”—he called for increasing OBC reservations and expressed support for conducting a caste census at the state level through the Personnel Department, stating that steps were already underway.
