Jamshedpur, June 11: Though Naveen Patnaik is no longer the chief minister of Odisha after losing the electoral battle in the neighbouring state, scores of people of his state and beyond miss him immensely.
Through his inspirational administration demonstrated during his two-decade tenure as chief minister, Patnaik has left a deep impression among the people of the state and outside, many of them holding high opinions of him as a role model chief minister.
Those who spontaneously came out in praise of Naveen Patnaik were still at a loss as to why the people of Odisha let so good a person face defeat in the recently held assembly elections.
Naveen Patnaik is truly a gentleman
“From what I have come to know about Naveen Patnaik is that he is truly a gentleman, something which is rarely seen in this era of increasingly cheap and nasty political scenarios across the country. He would remain committed to the development of Odisha and the well-being of the people of his state only. Moreover, while rendering a flawless administration by leading the BJD government in the state he would extend his unwavering support to the BJP-led NDA government in the Centre whenever there was a constitutional crisis, given his close rapport with the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. But despite all this, the dynamic leader had to face the bitter defeat ironically by none other than the BJP only, ” observed a resident of Jamshedpur Shankar Prashad Sharma while talking to The Jharkhand Story.

Odisha made tremendous progress under Patnaik
Sharma who is a high school teacher here in the city said that during Naveen Patnaik’s rule, Odisha made tremendous progress on all fronts and emerged as a developing state thanks to the relentless efforts by Patnaik.
Another netizen who seemed to be shocked due to the departure of Naveen Patnaik was Murli Rao.
“The people of Odisha were blessed to have a person like Naveen Patnaik as the state’s chief minister. Despite being an outsider, I like many others would talk about Naveen Patnaik’s way of functioning as the chief minister. But I wonder exactly what made the people of Odisha reject such a nice person in the just concludes assembly elections there, ” said Rao while talking to this correspondent.
Rao who runs a travel agency here in the steel city said the people of Odisha have voted the saffron brigade to power, but he wondered if would they be able to get a man like Naveen Patnaik as the chief minister of the state.
