New railway projects to improve connectivity of Jharkhand with other parts of country

Jamshedpur, August 12: Railway connectivity of Jharkhand with other parts of the country will improve in the days to come as the Indian Railways is all set to implement several projects in the current financial year.

New Projects

Badampahar–Kendujhargarh new line (82 km)

Bangriposi–Gorumahisani new line (86 km)

Chakulia-Buramara New line (60 km)

Boost to iron and steel industry in Jharkhand

South Eastern Railway (SER) sources said that some of the projects would boost iron and steel industry in Jharkhand.

According to a railway spokesperson in Garden Reach, the Kolkata based headquarters of South Eastern Railway, the thermal power plants in Jharkhand will get coal faster. It will improve the power generation capacity.

According to the spokesperson, the Tatanagar and Ranchi industrial cluster will get better connectivity.

“Better connectivity of Santhal Pargana with Bengal and Bihar would be ensured soon,” said the spokesperson.

According to him, the distance to Puri will be shortened by 30 minutes for pilgrims from the East Singhbhum and North Chota Nagpur regions.

Cheaper imported coal and dolomite to Jharkhand industries

“East Singhbhum and North Chota-Nagpur industries will receive cheaper imported coal and dolomite. The industry based on quartz and quartzite will greatly benefit from faster connectivity in this area. Jharkhand industrial cluster will have access to the Bangriposi-Gurumahisani iron ore mining belt, ” added the spokesperson.

Regarding port connectivity, he said that it will reduce the distance between Tatanagar and Paradip and other east-coast ports.

The estimated completion cost is Rs 6294 crore and it generates employment of approximately 76 lakh man-days.
