Jamshedpur, Dec 31: In view of New Year celebrations, police have tightened security arrangements across Jamshedpur.
City Superintendent of Police Kumar Shivashish on Wednesday led a flag march in the Sakchi area as part of the enhanced security measures.
The flag march included the participation of Sakchi and Bistupur police station in-charges, CCR personnel, the Traffic DSP, and a large contingent of police force. It began from Sakchi market and passed through Bistupur before concluding at Jubilee Park.
Senior police officers inspected the park premises and reviewed the overall security preparedness.
Speaking to the media, City SP Kumar Shivashish said the police administration is fully prepared to maintain law and order on the night of December 31 and on January 1, ensuring that celebrations remain peaceful and incident-free.
He informed that special checking drives will be conducted at 32 checkpoints across the city, starting from the evening of December 31, continuing through the night and into January 1.
During these checks, strict action will be taken against rash and drunken driving, riding without helmets, traffic rule violations, and unruly behaviour on the roads.
“Anyone found violating the law will face immediate action,” the City SP warned.
He further stated that popular picnic and recreation spots, including Jubilee Park, Dimna Lake, Dalma, Tata Steel Zoological Park and other locations, will be under special police deployment.
Deputy Superintendents of Police will personally monitor these areas, while plainclothes police personnel will also be deployed to prevent incidents of misbehaviour, molestation, illegal consumption of alcohol, or any form of indiscipline.
Clarifying the purpose of these measures, the City SP said the police do not intend to disrupt celebrations but aim to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all citizens.
He appealed to the public to follow traffic rules, cooperate with the police, and immediately report any suspicious activity so that peace and safety are maintained across the city during the New Year celebrations.
