Jamshedpur, June 10: Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) is poised to witness a historic moment in global space exploration as it hosts a ‘Watch Party’ for the live launch of Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4)—a private spaceflight to the International Space Station (ISS), operated by Axiom Space in collaboration with SpaceX and NASA.

The mission is scheduled to lift off from the Kennedy Space Center at 5:30 PM IST on June 11, 2025, with the live broadcast beginning at 3:25 PM IST.

The mission holds special significance for India, as Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force will serve as the mission pilot. He will be the second Indian to travel to space and the first ever to visit the ISS, marking a proud milestone in the country’s space journey.

NHES has been chosen to organize the city’s official watch party for this momentous event. Students, teachers, members of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), and the school’s Managing Committee will gather at the NHES auditorium to witness the live launch together.

The event comes on the heels of NHES’s growing engagement in space education. On November 4, 2023, the school hosted a successful ‘Space Talks’ session in collaboration with NASA, featuring Jaydeep Mukherjee, Director of the NASA Florida Space Grant Consortium, who addressed students on the future of space exploration and the science of telescopes. US Consul General Melinda Pavek also addressed the audience via a recorded message.

On June 10, a day prior to the launch, Principal Paramita Roychaudhury along with core team members Avijeet M., Manju V., Sujata S., Meena S., and Subhash Banerjee, addressed a press conference to share details of the upcoming event.

“This is a moment of immense pride for not only NHES but the entire city of Jamshedpur,” said Principal Roychaudhury adding, “By organizing this watch party, we aim to ignite young minds with a passion for science, innovation, and international collaboration.”
