Jamshedpur, Jan 1: The dominant north-westerly winds have intensified the winter chill across Jharkhand.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre statistics show that minimum temperatures have dropped significantly in Ranchi and several other districts.

Jamshedpur, Ranchi, and other areas experienced bright and pleasant weather this morning after a cold night. Light to moderate fog was observed in some isolated locations during the early hours.

Sub-10°C temperatures were recorded in various parts of the state today. Ranchi registered a minimum temperature of 8.6°C, while Jamshedpur recorded 10.4°C.

In Daltonganj, the headquarters of the Palamu district, the minimum temperature was 9.8°C. Meanwhile, Chaibasa, located in the neighbouring West Singhbhum district, reported a low of 9°C.

The IMD observatory in Bokaro recorded a minimum temperature of 11.6°C.

In other areas, Gumla’s temperature plummeted to 6.1°C, while Lohardaga recorded 7°C. Khunti experienced a low of 8°C, and Ramgarh reported a minimum of 9.9°C.

Weather experts have predicted that minimum temperatures across the state may drop by another 1–2°C in the next 24 hours.
