Bhubaneswar, July 2: For the forthcoming Rath Yatra celebrations, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced a two-day holiday in the state on July 7 and 8.
Majhi emphasized the importance of this unique two-day celebration while presiding over a high-level meeting to evaluate preparations for the yearly Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings in Puri.
Majhi urged all officials to ensure the festival’s smooth execution to uphold the pride of Puri and Odisha, saying, “As the Rath Yatra will span two days, I direct the officers concerned to declare public holidays on these days,”

President Murmu to attend Rath Yatra in Puri
The Chief Minister shared that President Droupadi Murmu is set to arrive in Puri on the evening of July 6 and take part in the Rath Yatra celebrations, including the chariot pulling, on July 7.
Majhi asked for coordination from all parties involved in order to enable punctual rituals and a good festival conclusion, given the convergence of important rituals such as “Nabajaubana Darshan,” “Netra Utsav,” and the “Gundicha Yatra” on July 7.
This was the last coordination meeting to ensure a flawless Rath Yatra, and it was attended by various ministers and top officials, including both Deputy Chief Ministers, K V Singh Deo and Pravati Parida.
