Kishtwar, April 11: A terrorist was gunned down in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar region after an intense gun battle with security forces, the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed on Friday.

Despite facing rugged terrain and challenging weather conditions, the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out relentless operations in the Chhatru forest area.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, security forces had launched a joint search and destroy mission across the Chhatru area of Kishtwar and Udhampur districts on April 9. Late that evening, troops made contact with the terrorists, sparking a firefight.

“The terrorists were effectively engaged and a firefight ensued. One terrorist has thus far been neutralised,” the White Knight Corps said in a statement posted on X, adding that operations are still ongoing.
