Acting on specific intelligence inputs, security forces had launched a joint search and destroy mission across the Chhatru area of Kishtwar and Udhampur districts on April 9. Late that evening, troops made contact with the terrorists, sparking a firefight.

“The terrorists were effectively engaged and a firefight ensued. One terrorist has thus far been neutralised,” the White Knight Corps said in a statement posted on X, adding that operations are still ongoing.
