New Delhi, Dec 2: Opposition parties intensified their push for a debate on electoral reforms on Tuesday, assembling in the Parliament House complex to oppose the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.
Leading the demonstration, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge—joined by Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, senior DMK leaders T. R. Baalu and Kanimozhi and other MPs—accused the government of manipulating the process and vowed to continue raising the issue inside and outside the House.

The protest was held near Parliament’s Makar Dwar, where leaders displayed large banners reading “Stop SIR – Stop Vote Chori” and held placards demanding transparency in the revision of electoral rolls.

Members of the wider INDIA bloc also participated, signalling a united opposition front as the Winter Session moved into its second day.
Kharge asserted that their agitation would persist “to safeguard democracy and oppose injustice.”
