Pakistan releases BSF jawan Purnam Shaw

THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Amritsar, May 14: BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw, who had inadvertently crossed into Pakistan, returned to India on Wednesday following an exchange between Indian and Pakistani forces at the Attari border.

In return, India handed over a Pakistani Ranger who had been apprehended on this side of the border.

The exchange took place around 10:30 AM at the Joint Check Post in Attari, following coordination between both sides.

Shaw had been in the custody of Pakistan Rangers since April 23, 2025.

The Border Security Force (BSF) confirmed the return of the jawan and stated that the handover was conducted peacefully and in accordance with established protocols.
