Daltonganj, April 16: Chatra Lok Sabha constituency is a poppy meadow in Jharkhand.
This constituency has 5 assembly seats: 2 each for the Chatra and Latehar districts and 1 for the Palamu district.
Voting in Chatra on May 20
Here, voting is slated for May 20. This Lok Sabha constituency is known for its easy and floating money, which comes mainly from Poppy.
Here, votes are managed by money. Muscles are less used. Money runs the writ.
IG of police Palamu zone Narendra Kumar Singh inspected the interstate check post at Chak. He spent considerable time there. He met some locals there.
Check post was quite active and alert: IG
Speaking to the Jharkhand Story correspondent, the IG said, “The interstate check post was quite active and alert. Cops are maintaining registers with names and types of vehicles checked. Cell phone numbers of the vehicles’ users are also being noted.”
The IG added, “I have asked the boys there to be wary of Maoists’ tactical counter-offensive technique. One must keep in mind that Maoists’ deceit is always there.”

Their surprise offensive is not to be ruled out.
He said, “I understand no one has forgotten the gory incident at Katya in Latehar district where Maoists’ tactical counter-offensive was well carried out.”
The IG reminded the cops not to move loosely. Any letdown of security may pose a hazard of any nature, he added.
He agreed that “Imamganj police station limits of Bihar are in the contiguity of our interstate check post at Chak. Here, the first phase of voting is on April 19. We are keeping 24×7 vigil here on our side, which will have a positive impact on the other side in Bihar.”
He said there are 3 polling stations in contiguity here. Locals are tight-lipped. Whenever they speak, they do it tongue in cheek.
The IG said, “I can’t tell you which hue of the security force will man security here on May 20, but I can tell people that there will be a flawless and adequate security cover here on the day of polling.”
