Daltonganj, August 12: Paton police in Palamu on Wednesday arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly posting abusive and objectionable content against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on social media. The accused was subsequently produced before a court and granted bail, police said.

The accused has been identified as Vinay Vishwakarma, a resident of Gahar Pathra village under Paton police station limits. According to Sadar SDPO Rajesh Yadav, Vishwakarma had appeared for the 2025 Jharkhand Combined Graduate Level (JCGL) examination but failed to qualify.

Objectionable Facebook Post Triggers Police Action

According to police, Vishwakarma allegedly uploaded an AI-generated image of the Chief Minister along with offensive and abusive remarks on his Facebook profile.

Police said the post criticised the Chief Minister over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations and stated that the accused had threatened to continue posting similar content until he felt justice had been delivered.

The post was subsequently circulated after several people took screenshots and shared them on social media.

Complaint Filed, Accused Granted Bail

JMM functionary Uma Shankar Singh reportedly lodged a written complaint at Paton police station on Wednesday over the alleged social media post.

Police registered a case and detained Vishwakarma in connection with the complaint. He was later produced before the court, which granted him bail, SDPO Yadav said.

Police seized the accused’s mobile phone as part of the investigation. The objectionable content has also been deleted, according to police.

The accused was warned to exercise caution and maintain propriety while posting content on social media in the future.

CID Searches Continue for Two JPSC-JSSC Accused

Meanwhile, CID personnel conducted searches at locations linked to two alleged accused in the ongoing investigation into irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations.

Daltonganj police station officer-in-charge Jyoti Lal Rajwar said the CID team searched for Santosh Singh and Ravishankar Kumar on Wednesday, but both were reportedly absconding.

The CID had also conducted searches for the two on August 3 but could not locate them.

Sources claimed that the two may have left Jharkhand and taken shelter in neighbouring Bihar. Police and CID teams are continuing efforts to trace them.
