New Delhi, July 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday underscored the importance of national unity in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, applauding political leaders across party lines for presenting a united front against Pakistan on the global stage.

PM Modi Praises Political Unity Against Pakistan

Speaking to the media, the Prime Minister commended Members of Parliament from various parties for setting aside political differences to act in the country’s interest. “Keeping party interests aside, in the interest of the country, representatives of most of our parties went to many countries of the world and in one voice, ran a very successful campaign to expose Pakistan before the world,” he said.

He emphasized that this collaborative effort had generated a positive atmosphere in the country and described it as a powerful example of unity. “I want to appreciate all those MPs, I want to appreciate all the parties for this important work done in the national interest,” he added.

Call for Continued Unity Beyond Party Lines

Reflecting on the spirit of cooperation displayed across political lines, the Prime Minister remarked, “The country has seen the power of unity. So all the MPs in the House, give it strength, take it forward and I will definitely say that every political party has its own agenda, its own role, but I accept this reality that ‘Dal hit mein mat bhale na mile lekin desh hit mein mann jarur mile’.”

India’s Economic Progress Since 2014

Turning to the country’s economic performance, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the significant reduction in inflation and poverty. He recalled the era before 2014 when inflation was in double digits, contrasting it with current rates.

“Today, with the rate dropping to around two per cent, it has become a relief and a convenience in the lives of the common people in the country. 25 crore poor people have come out of poverty, which is being appreciated by many institutions of the world,” he said.

Security Forces Changing Narrative in Red Zones

The Prime Minister also praised the achievements of Indian security forces in tackling left-wing extremism.

Noting a dramatic shift in affected areas, he stated, “Today, our security forces with a new self-confidence and resolve to end Naxalism are progressing forward. Many districts are free of Naxalism today. We are proud that the Indian constitution is emerging victorious against Naxalism. The ‘red corridors’ are transforming into ‘green growth zones’.”
