Noida, Sept 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday underscored the need for India to strengthen indigenous production and reduce dependence on foreign goods, declaring that self-reliance must remain the nation’s guiding principle.
Speaking after inaugurating the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show-2025, he urged citizens and traders to embrace the mantra of “Garv se kaho hum swadeshi hain” (say with pride, we are Swadeshi), stressing that no compromise should be made on the quality of domestically produced goods.
Highlighting India’s resilience in the face of global uncertainties, the Prime Minister said the country continues to chart new paths for growth.

“Disruptions don’t deter us; instead, they push us to build stronger foundations for the decades ahead. A nation that stays dependent on others cannot secure its growth,” he remarked, reiterating his government’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Modi further emphasized that India must develop an ecosystem that not only promotes Swadeshi products but also prioritizes indigenous designs and innovation. He called on the private sector to step up investments in research, warning that without innovation, “the world halts, and businesses stagnate.”
To create a more enabling environment for enterprises, the government, he said, has scrapped over 40,000 unnecessary compliances and decriminalized more than a thousand outdated laws.
“From chip to ship, we want manufacturing to happen in India, and for that, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with all stakeholders,” he told business leaders and traders at the event.
