Ahmedabad, March 12: Through video conferencing on Tuesday from Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially flagged off 10 new high-speed Vande Bharat trains. The effort done over the last ten years to advance the country, according to the prime minister, is “just a trailer”.

These ten new trains would run between Varanasi-Ranchi, Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central, Patna-Lucknow, New Jalpaiguri-Patna, Lucknow-Dehradun, Kalaburagi- Sir M Vishvesvaraya Terminal Benguluru, Khajuraho-Nizamuddin (Delhi), Mysuru-MGR Central (Chennai) and Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam.

Following the inauguration and commencement of various railway projects, PM Modi remarked, “This day is a living proof of willpower. Youth of the country will decide what kind of country and railway they want.”

Last 10 years’ work just a trailer: PM

The Prime Minister stated that the progress achieved over the last decade towards national development is merely a trailer.

“Ye 10 saal ka kaam abhi toh trailer hai, mujhe toh aur aage jaana hai (The work in these 10 years is just a trailer, I still have to go further),” he stated.

“I would like to tell the youth that the today inaugurations that happened today are for your present. The foundation stone laying that happened today has come with the guarantee of your bright future,” he added.

Modi also emphasized that successive governments since independence prioritized political self-interest, resulting in significant detriment to the Indian Railways.

“The governments that came after independence gave priority to political selfishness. The Indian Railways is a major victim of that…The first that I did was to include Railways into the Budget of the Government. Due to this, government funds are now being used for the development of the Railways.”
